An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and Dear John eBook: Nicholas Sparks: Kindle Store.

The words gently tug you along and before you know it you have to finish the book.

I will give him props for that because I'm not one of those people who has to see a book to the end, if it's not holding my interest I chuck it. After I finished reading I literally was exhausted. It's like Sparks was sitting at his computer and thought about all the ways to make it romantically tragic. I can just see him now, "Aha! That will definitely be a tear jerker, I'm a genius!

I cannot say that enough. Don't get me wrong there a scenes where you are like that was good, but he tries to stick in too many. He is a master puppeteer when it comes to pulling your heart strings, basically merciless this guy. The premise was interesting because I grew up as a military kid and I wanted see the perspective of a soldier without children.

John is good in the beginning but then he changes pretty dramatically. In the first half of the book he keeps saying and my love grew stronger at least 4 or 5 times.

Really John how much stronger can it get? The Summer of Chasing Dreams: A gorgeously uplifting and heartwarming romantic comedy to escape with.

I did not like the sad ending, and I like happy endings in a romance book. I still rated it as a five because while I wouldn't call it a page-turner until near the end, it did evoke my emotions, and it made me cry.

Adrianne and Paul fall in love over one weekend. That is quick. I did not think a real doctor would go to visit a client whose wife had died after a surgery and found that totally unrealistic.

I did think the reactions of her son and husband were realistic. This one is no where near as good as The Notebook. I doubt the author will ever write a book to beat it. I challenge him to, but this one won't do it. I am a fan and love his writing and books, but I was a bit disappointed with the latest two I read.

I think the author did a great job of making the weekend romance believable with the woman being divorced when her husband left her for a younger woman, and the man's wife left him because he gave her no quality time. It was hard to believe how much he changed in regard to his work and time, but it does make sense that after losing a partner because of it, a change like that could happen.

That part was believable. Doctors don't make house calls anymore, and especially against the advice of an attorney.

That part was not believable. One person found this helpful. There are four characters that Nicholas Sparks has created, that are so fleshed out, you want to run out into the world and meet them, Stg. John Tyree is one of those 'people'. A protagonist so flawed an yet so 'good' the reader cannot help but feel compassion for him and the hand life and fate have dealt to him. So maybe Dear John is about love, but on so many levels this narrative delves into the many facets of love and its accompanying emotion, grief.

All the reader wants to do is hug Stg.

Dear John Nicholas Sparks

John Tyree and reassure him that in the end, everything will be alright. Nicholas Sparks does it again! He writes the stories and characters every woman wants to experience and men, as well.

His love stories are not traditional, formulaic or trite. He sweeps you off your feet with emotion, imagery and beautifully crafted phraseology. The characters speak to you and come to life in his descriptions.

I am completely drawn in to his stories of romance; reality and heartbreak. Thank you for weaving beauty into a time when pure soul and value is lacking. Wow, this book is hard to evaluate. There are parts of the book which I truly liked.

As for the other parts of the book, they were awfully annoying. I read it without too many expectations, so it feels like it didn't really exceed in anything. I thought that the main characters, John and Savannah, were just the kind of characters I don't like to follow-up with in a story because although their reactions are very human, they are also very plain and unimpressive.

I couldn't really buy the idea. It's kinda ironic that the best parts of the book in my opinion revolve around John's relationship with his dad, and THAT was something that moved me to tears. I also liked Tim, who also happens to be very "normal" and yet struck me as a far better character than John. This was an Not excellent, not awfully. Still, I'm quite willing to take a look at the other Nicholas Sparks' books.

Mass Market Paperback Verified Purchase. I actually watched the movie first and fell in love with the actors because they did such a great job portraying all of the emotion this story contains. Since I loved the movie, I got the book. This is the first time I can honestly say that I loved them both the same. The funny thing is there are some significant differences between the two, the ending being the most critical, yet I loved the way the movie ended and I also loved the way the book ended even though they were very, very different.

I've never had that experience before. After the return he seeks out Savannah, where he is surprised to learn of her life events following her marriage to another man. I know Sparks hammers an ideal world into some peoples head with his writing and makes everyone think that love means riding into the sunset together.

Writing style I recognize the writers style. After the return he seeks out Savannah, where he is surprised to learn of her life events following her marriage to another man.

Showing This book would be hated by people who think falling in love is being together all the time, going on dates, spending rest of the life happily ever after, even I thought the same before reading this book but I was utterly and shamelessly wrong.
